Wow how long has it been now since I’ve done a painting? It feels like forever, and I actually have forgotten when I did my last painting. Thankfully there is social media so I can go back into my archives and see when I last painted something.
Since it has been so long since I have painted anything, I’m certain there is some rust that I must oil up and scrape away before posting any paintings upon my return. In reality, an artist being away from their brushes and oils is akin to an athlete or entertainer being away from their craft for an extended period. Consider a wrestler who is kept away from the ring due to a severe injury for months or even a year. They develop what is called ring rust and must train to regain their former prowess. Similarly, an artist must retrain their hands and skills after a prolonged absence.
If you have been following me through blogs and my social media channels, you are aware of what has kept me from painting for such a long time. I hope my return will be as it once was and that my followers will continue on this journey with me in my healing process. I understand that I have been posting and blogging about my hobby of collecting horror items which may not appeal everyone. However, it is my passion, and I do it for myself. If horror is not your preference, you have the option to unfollow my social media or blogs. To those who have been fans of my paintings and have followed me for many years, thank you for your continued support of this dark artist. For those who are new to my blogs and art, please note that I also paint horror art.
To all those who have sent me emails and messages through social media, you may now understand why, despite my postings and blogs on my horror collection, asking why I have the moniker “Healing with Art,” which has nothing to do with art? As I always welcome my new followers and subscribers to do, please take a tour through my social media, starting from the very bottom of my posts and videos and working your way upwards. By doing so, you will join me on my journey, gaining much understanding and getting to know me both professionally and personally as an artist.
I apologize to those who have unfollowed my blogs in recent months due to my posts about horror collecting and the dark stories I have written, which are not fictional in any way. They are very real and based on personal experiences. The stories I have written are simply my paintings in written word form. I wish that those that left my journey before I returned would have followed my social media accounts and subscribed to my blogs, all of which are free to join, to get to know me as a person and an artist. To those who are still here, I thank you with all my heart for continuing to walk with me on this journey.
The official return date will be announced in the coming weeks. I will share previews of my work on social media to tease my return. Subscribers to my blogs will be the first to know the return date and upcoming announcements, including future postings. Additionally, contests for free artwork and limited-edition glossy prints will return on my social media accounts. Please keep your blog notifications on to stay informed of the contest dates and giveaways!
I do have some painting requests requested by friends and family so I can scrape the rust off, to paint for them. Those “rusty” paintings will be posted here on my blogs for all my subscribers to view and see my progress in returning back to my passion of art.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog, regardless of where you are in the world. Whether you are preparing for bed before work, waking up in the morning before work, eating breakfast, or reading this on your lunch break, I appreciate your engagement and hope you found the blog enjoyable.
Thank you,
David L
