I paused my painting and crafting activities because of physical health issues that hindered my ability to create. Despite being in the same physical state that previously halted my creativity, I’ve decided to persevere and continue creating. I truly miss the sensation of holding a paintbrush in my hand.
I’ve resolved to ease back into the arts gradually. My first project will be painting the last sculpture of a wolf I obtained for myself earlier this summer. It’s the third sculpture I’ve purchased. The wolf, depicted in this blog, along with a wolf on driftwood and a Pterodactyl, have both been painted and shared on my social media.
I am crafting a sculpture of a female Alpha wolf from the Alexander Archipelago Wolf breed, a subspecies of the grey wolf native to Southeast Alaska’s coast. Their fur typically exhibits a darker grey hue compared to their grey wolf relatives, often appearing black, which also qualifies them as black wolves. I have a particular fondness for black wolves, even though spotting a pure black wolf in the wild is exceedingly rare. For this sculpture, I plan to use dark greys and black to capture the essence of their fur, and I intend to give her yellow eyes to differentiate from another wolf sculpture I painted with blue eyes.
These sculptures are handcrafted by an artist on Etsy. If you’re interested in wolf sculptures (the artist creates a wide range of animals and sea creatures), feel free to message me, and I can provide you with a link to her Etsy store. I’m planning to order additional wolves to paint soon.
If you appreciate my sculptures and would like a custom piece painted by me, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss it. Currently, I’m unsure if I’ll resume taking orders for artwork due to my health, which has led me to semi-retirement. For now, I’m enjoying painting at my leisure and creating gifts for family and friends. I’ve committed to painting a canvas of Jon Bon Jovi for my best friend’s birthday, which is a few months away, so that might be her present. Once I complete the wolf sculpture, I’ll start on her portrait, as such paintings require time and shouldn’t be rushed.
I’d like to share a brief background on my physical health issues that have hindered my ability to pursue my passion for art. My motor skills have deteriorated, leading to frequent instances of dropping items, especially with my right hand, which I use for painting. Chronic pain plagues my shoulders and biceps, and sitting for extended periods has become a challenge due to excruciating tailbone pain. As I pen this blog, the pain in my shoulders, biceps, and back is at a distressing level of eight.
I’m looking forward to brighter days ahead, filled with more opportunities for painting and creativity. You can view all my latest videos on Instagram and TikTok. Additionally, I’ll be updating my YouTube channel with new content showcasing upcoming artwork and paintings. Early in the New Year, I’ll be hosting a giveaway on social media; all the specifics, including prizes and how to enter, will be detailed in my forthcoming blog posts. Remember, all future giveaways will be exclusively announced to my blog subscribers, along with information on where to participate on social media. Keep your subscription active to partake in the excitement that’s coming! After all, who doesn’t appreciate complimentary art?
I’m concluding this blog post as I’m off to relax with my favorite DJ, Delilah, on Youngstown’s Mix 98.9 FM. Her voice and selection of music are incredibly soothing.
Have a safe and Happy New Year to you all!
Sincerely,
David L
