The feedback I’ve received since returning to creating artwork has been incredibly warm and welcoming.

From social media followers to family and friends old and new, the feedback has been astonishingly welcoming on my return. I’ve created a couple of drawings in graphite since my return back into my first love, artwork, and it feels incredibly fulfilling to revisit my creative roots. You can find these comeback drawings in this newsletter and previous newsletter posts, each piece reflecting the joy I’ve found in reconnecting with my artistic passion. The drawing I’m including in this newsletter is for a new friend I had the pleasure of getting to know at a center I recently joined up with, which has not only enriched my life but has also provided me with a supportive community of like-minded individuals. She is not only a horror fan, but also in the same line of work that I once held dear to my own heart as well, the career of Activity Director, which involves bringing joy and engagement to others’ lives through carefully crafted activities. She informed me she was a fan of Stephen King, so I told her I would be, not only gifting her with a Steven King painting of Pet Sematary I’ve created back in 2019, but I would also be drawing her a new character that you see in this post, which is another favorite of mine, Cujo, an intriguing representation of the complex dynamics between fear and loyalty. I hope these artworks will not only showcase my skills but also serve as a bridge of friendship and shared interests between us, deepening our connection through the language of art.

Although there have been some physical struggles I’ve encountered upon my return back into drawing, I’m only going to put focus on the creation and satisfaction feelings I get on my creativity of my return. The journey of rekindling my passion has been a mix of excitement and a few challenges, yet I’ve discovered that each mark I make on paper brings a sense of joy that is hard to describe. I haven’t done any time-lapsed videos on my current drawings I’ve done, but that will be my next priority to do as I start to feel comfortable again in putting more solid hours into one single drawing or painting. Sharing my progress through dynamic video formats could not only showcase my journey but also inspire others in their creative pursuits. The couple of drawings I’ve completed are more of sketches to gain more solid mobility control of the pencil once again; these exercises have proven invaluable, allowing me to refine my technique and gradually regain the confidence I once had. Each sketch serves as a stepping stone, guiding me back to the intricate details and vibrant colors that I love to explore, making every pencil stroke a crucial part of my artistic revival.

Sincerely,

David L
