This is what I decided to become more focused on creating using a variety of mediums (An Open Post)

Upon returning to art, I’m finding joy in drawing portraits across various mediums, prompting me to dedicate more time and effort to this pursuit.

Improving drawing skills requires dedication and effort; while it may not be easy, it presents a challenge. Some artists begin with hyper-realistic portraits, while I started with comics and coloring pages over forty years ago, learning to draw various subjects along the way, including a few portraits.

I’ve been receiving positive reviews on my portrait drawings and want to improve in this area. Currently, I’m drawing a graphite portrait of a friend’s childhood celebrity crush.

I have recently found drawing portraits challenging and rewarding, with my older charcoal and pastel portraits of Steve Austin and Vinny Jones from The Condemned being noteworthy.

Both of my recent portraits were created with colored pencils, while my current one is in graphite, which I find the color pencil medium challenging yet rewarding.

Teaching myself portrait drawing feels like a complete restart, as I already have skills in other subjects, making portraiture quite challenging.

I previously created dark horror art, which I enjoyed, but I’m now shifting my focus to portraits and other subjects.

My artwork, including recent portraits, is available on various platforms.

Sincerely,

David L
